Thursday November the 1st
we had a record turnout here at Goldsby for our Veterans Corner with 75 men
and women stopping by needing assistance with their VA claims and
questions. As busy as we were we were still able to work everyone by 2
pm.
Mr. Everett Hollis of Sulphur bought
for 70 at our weekly lunch at Libby’s restaurant. The Veteran who
traveled the longest distance was from Cordell and he did receive a
favorable rating for his disabilities.
We have a list of who is going to
treat for lunch that is filled up until March of 08. We had 3 men
approved for the 100% rate last week on their VA claims. This week I will
be meeting with men from Alpha Company, 3rd Recon Bn. 3rd
Marine Division Viet-Nam era Marines. I met with some of these men in
2005 and was able to help them to obtain VA benefits.
Although Harold Reed and I will not
be working Thursday their will be other helpers on duty to help you with
your questions and paperwork. If you have ever wanted to be a part of
what we try to do for our Veterans stop by and we will find a job for
you. Also send anyone who has been a member of the Active duty military,
Reserves or National Guard to see us and maybe they will be legible for
benefits.
If you have not checked out our
website go to vfwpost4890.org our webmaster has done a great job. For all
of your VA questions and for assistance stop by and maybe we can help
you. Dale K. Graham VFW service officer post 4890. On Wednesday we are at
the American Legion bldg. 710 East main, Norman 8 am until 1130 am and on
Thursday in Goldsby at the Community Bldg from 8 am until 2 pm.
