Thursday was another big day for our local veterans, with several
receiving a 100% rating and many others from 10-80 percent for their
service-connected disabilities. We had over 100 veterans for our lunch at
Libby’s Restaurant with Mr. Danny Simms treating all of those present.
Mr. Bob Clement and Jon Lister both made donations to our
benevolence fund. We were able to make donations of $800 to our needy
veterans from this fund.
We processed 128 veteran’s claims with 33 of these being first
timers. The veteran driving the longest distance this past week was from
Canadian Oklahoma. Overall, 99% of our claims have been approved that we
filed through the department of veterans affairs.
We continue to need more volunteers to help us with the large
numbers of veterans and dependence who are stopping by for assistance
with their VA claims and questions. Last week we provided transportation
to seven veterans who needed rides to their QTC appointments.
If you would like to volunteer your time to help us at the Goldsby community center or with transportation, please
stop by and visit us Thursday mornings.
