Thursday at Goldsby
we processed over 100 of our Veterans who needed help with everything
from a ride to their VA appointments to help in preparing a claim for
injuries received while in the military. There were 28 who were first
timers and the rest had been there before. Our request for more helpers
is beginning to bring more volunteers to the Goldsby Community center. By lunch time we
had worked over 70 of the Veterans who stopped by. Our weekly lunch at Libby’s was very
good as usual with over 75 in attendance.
Our Veteran of the week was Mr. Gus
Morris; we salute him for his military service. Thanks Gus. Our staff at
Veterans Corner works diligently for each veteran who stops by for
assistance.
We try to keep everything moving as
smooth as possible to help each person to receive all of the benefits
that they are entitled to. Please be patient with our volunteers as each
one of them is doing their best to help each person. Our goal is to try
and process each person within 90 minutes of their arrival. If we can
recruit a few more of our neighbors, this goal will be met.
We are continuing to have most of
our claims to the Regional office in Muskogee approved. Last week there were
8 more who received the 100% rating and many more that were from 10% to
90 %. I believe that our staff is one of the best in this country when it
comes to helping each one of our Veterans to receive all of the benefits
that they are entitled to.
The number of Gulf War Veterans that
we see continues to grow each week. It appears that they are telling
their friends where to receive help. I will be in Norman on Wednesday 8am to 11am at the
American Legion 710 East Main and in Goldsby on
Thursday at the Community building from 630 am to 2pm.
