Thursday at Goldsby we set a new record with 84 Veterans stopping
by for assistance with their VA questions and claims for benefits. The
men and women we help deserve all of the help that we can give
them. At our weekly Veterans lunch there were 78 who joined us for
a very good meal at Libby’s.
Our sponsor for lunch was
Mr. Donald Williamson of Moore.
We continue to have some of our local men and women offering to help us
with there time and monetary donations to help our needy Veterans and
their families. Our drivers are logging many miles transporting some of
our Veterans to their VA appointments.
Many people are contacting
us by phone and e-mail with questions about VA benefits for themselves or
family members. We continue to see a very large number of WW II and
Korean Veterans. Many of these men and women have just found out that
they may be eligible for benefits.
With the growing number of
cases that we are working I would like to have a few more dedicated
volunteers to help with this cause. Today I attended a district 10
meeting of the VFW in Del City
where we discussed Veterans benefits and how we can do more for our
Veterans. Mr. Gordon Wheeler is our district Commander where he discussed
ways to increase our membership.
I belong to post 4890 in Norman and would
like to encourage all eligible readers to join this organization. This
next Thursday we may have a couple of guest stop by and visit our
Veterans Corner group. I will be at the American Legion Wednesday in
Norman at 710 East Main from 8 AM until
1130 AM and in Goldsby
on Thursday from 7am until 2:30 PM.
