What about that ice storm and no electricity for many of us? Maybe
you were lucky enough to have missed out on the worst of it.
That cold weather hardly slowed our Veterans work with 58 present
for our Thursday lunch and around 50 who stopped by for help with their
claims and questions. We had 3 more who were rated at the 100% rate 1 at
70% and several from 10% to 50%.
Mr. Dick Sills of Choctaw
treated us to lunch at Libby’s last week. In Norman at the American Legion it was a
different story with no electric and lots of ice. This next Wednesday
everyone who was not able to receive help last week will be there then.
We may need your help taking care of everyone. Bud Turner is
supposed to be back with us in a week or so when he begins to feel
better. Gerald Ashley one of our helpers has still not had his power back
on yet. I suppose we don’t think much about electric or gas until they
are gone. It’s kind of like our Veterans, when we lose one; our thoughts
are something like I wish I had done more while he or she was alive. Many
of us are wrapped up in our own thoughts, that we do not have time for
others.
Maybe this Christmas Season could be a start for you to try to
reach out to help someone in your community.
