There were 116 veterans who stopped by for assistance with their VA
claims and questions last Thursday at the Goldsby
Community center.
Of that total there were 33 who had never filed a claim before. Our staff
started at 6am and the last
Veteran was thru at 2:30 pm. Our lunch was attended by over 90
Veterans with our Veteran of the week Willie Lawrence of OKC sponsoring
it.
I would like to see every Veteran in our county stop
by for a visit with us about possible benefits that they maybe eligible
for. We continue to help our Veterans and widows with our benevolence
fund Mr. A.M. Reeves and W.H. Cummins both made a donation to this fund.
Our drivers were able to transport 5 veterans to their appointments for
VA rating exams. These men are
doing a tremendous service for us, at this time I would like to thank Mr.
Kenny Moore and both Branch brothers E. J. and Bill for transporting
these men. I would also like to thank the Goldsby
town officials for allowing us the use of the community Center to help
our Veterans.
The man who drove the longest distance was from Houston Texas
last week. I feel that what we are doing out here is very important to
our community and for all Veterans and their families. I appreciate
everyone who helps with our mission and we all owe a great debt to the
men and women who are serving our country now and all who have served in
the past.
If you are a Veteran or know of one who has not met with us we
encourage you to stop in for a visit. We are continuing to increase the
number of Veterans that we see in the Norman office also.
