Thursday there were 77 Veterans who stopped by the Goldsby
Community center
with questions and claims for VA benefits. We will need a few more
volunteers to help us processing all of the claims. There was a lady from
Purcell who stopped by for a visit and to help with some of our expenses.
We appreciate the help from anyone who would like to be a part of what we
are doing.
At this time I would like to thank each of our men and women who
make this Veterans Corner what it is thanks Harold ,Richard ,Gerald ,
Charlie , Clayton , Dave ,Ron , Robert, Jerry , Joe ,Running Wolf , Dave
, Bud , Kenny ,EJ , Bill ,Sid , Don , Fence jumper and Mr. Billy Prater
as our Chaplain. Our volunteers are here to walk you thru the VA claims
process and to help you receive medical benefits that you may be entitled
to.
Mr. Jay Lovett of Newcastle
was the Veteran who bought lunch for 80 of us Thursday at Libby’s. Jay
recently started helping us to obtain information via the internet on our
Marine Veterans. Last week our drivers were able to take 8 Veterans
to their appointments in Oklahoma
City.
We are beginning to see more men and women from the Gulf War
stopping by with questions about VA Benefits. This last week there were 3
more who were awarded the 100% rate with one of our Vietnam Veterans
receiving a 70% rating for a hearing loss that occurred in 1969. Most of
the men and Women who stop by do not know that they are eligible for
anything from the VA.
I will be in Norman
on Wednesday at the American Legion 710 East main from 8am until 1130 am. On
Thursday in Goldsby at the Community Center
from 7:30 until 2:30.
